Southern California

McAlister GeoScience and Orswell & Kasman, Inc. have combined to form a specialized environmental consulting firm focused on delivering high-quality due diligence and remediation services to the commercial real estate industry. Our goal is to be the consultant of choice by providing responsive, detail-oriented service without the heavy overhead of larger firms.

We are seeking an experienced environmental professional to manage existing projects and help grow our services throughout Southern California. This is a key role within a small, agile organization where leadership, technical expertise, and business development all play a critical part.

Role Overview

The ideal candidate will bring a balance of project management, technical execution, and client development experience. You will oversee ongoing remediation projects, mentor junior staff, and actively contribute to expanding our client base and service offerings.

Current projects include retail gasoline stations, dry cleaning facilities, and former industrial sites. The successful candidate will be expected to take ownership of these projects upon hire and help diversify and grow our portfolio within the commercial and industrial sectors.

As a small firm, we value versatility—this role includes both office-based project management and hands-on fieldwork.

  • Manage environmental investigation, assessment, and remediation projects from initiation through regulatory closure
  • Serve as primary client contact and maintain strong, long-term relationships
  • Mentor and support junior staff and project teams
  • Prepare and review technical reports and regulatory submittals
  • Interface with local and state regulatory agencies to achieve site closure
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities and expand existing client relationships
  • Perform fieldwork as needed, including site assessments and oversight

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Geology, Environmental Science, or related field
  • 5–12 years of experience in environmental consulting
  • Strong background in site investigation, assessment, and remediation in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations
  • Demonstrated success working with regulatory agencies and achieving site closure
  • Proven experience in business development and maintaining client relationships
  • Experience managing projects, budgets, and personnel
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and standard business applications
  • Professional registration (e.g., P.E., P.G.) is a plus, but not required

Compensation & Benefits

  • Competitive salary commensurate with experience
  • Comprehensive benefits package including medical insurance
  • 401(k) with company match
  • Paid time off
  • Mileage reimbursement for fieldwork
  • Performance-based bonus opportunities
