Dave Reads – The Prize

By October 13, 2025 No Comments

The next book in our Dave Reads series is the cornerstone of modern geopolitical biographies, The Prize by Daniel Yergin.  This book was originally published in 1991 with this version published in 2008(I know, still 20 years ago) including a new Epilogue.

This book is excellent, and I’ve recommended it to several people over the years. Mr. Yergin covers all aspects of oil, from the use of tar by native cultures in canoes to modern-day rocket propellants. I found the chapters on World War II, the subsequent Cold War, and the more recent turmoil in the Middle East particularly fascinating. The author does an outstanding job of connecting these eras and themes, and it’s no surprise that he has been invited numerous times to speak and be interviewed on television and other media outlets on the subject.

Stay tuned for the next Dave Reads post where I will be putting down my thoughts on a business book I found interesting; Main Street Millionaire by Codie Sanchez.

I am a big fan of Ms. Sanchez as you can see in one of my previous posts here:  DirtyProperty.com/codie-sanchez-on-dry-cleaners/
