Two LA Area Sites Added to the NPL

I received an email this morning from the EPA announcing that two additional sites here in the Los Angeles area have been added to the National Priorities List (NPL). In a nutshell, the NPL, commonly referred to as “Superfund”, is the federal program that manages and financially backs investigation and remediation of sites that are beyond the means of a property owner or the property owner no longer exists.

These two new sites are within the Southern Avenue Industrial area of South Gate in Los Angeles County and consist of numerous historic manufacturing facilities in the low income neighborhood.
